4 Essential Tips for Beginner Photographers

  1. Stop Waiting for That "Right Time" to Shoot - When starting off, photographers tend to feel this need to wait for the right time of day, mood, setting, or subject to shoot. This perhaps occurs because one feels every photo session needs to be worthy of their time/effort or perhaps linked to a social media factor or wanting to publish outstanding work every time. In fact, you're spending more time attempting to make things perfect for the shoot, rather than getting into the action of shooting.

  2. Learn Manual Mode - Manual mode will give you a clear picture of how your DSLR camera functions. This camera mode is actually the basics that are taught in beginning photography courses. Once you get the hang of the mode and understand how it works, you can then move onto other camera modes if you wish.

  3. Buy a DSLR - For the love and sake of being a photographer. Treat yourself and invest in purchasing a DSLR camera. In the long-run you will see the growth in your skills, quality of photographs, and the potential to become a professional photographer. You may even get family members offering gigs for you.

  4. Don't Stress Over Photography Accessories - The only ones you should consider buying are a lens cap, neck strap and memory card. Everything else may not be useful in adapting your knowledge and skills for the first few chapters as starting off as a photographer.
